I recently purchased a memory foam mattress topper. I really do not know much about them and would like some feed back.
We originally purchased this because we experienced a wonderul nights sleep at a friends.
I have noticed a funny odor and from memory foam and wonder if this is normal?
Also, is there any special care I need to know about?

Any suggestions, feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I also recently purchased a memory foam pad, as well as a pillow. I can tell you they both had a kind of funny smell to them, but I am pretty sure it's normal, I also have to say, it's the best feeling ever, haha. I'm not so sure about any special care, I haven't heard anything about this.

We purchased one last year for the bed in our camper. It was pretty uncomfortable until we put that on and now its FANTASTIC! It actually sleeps better than our pillow top mattress in the house! I also remember it having a strange smell but I only noticed it coming out of the bag and when we laid it on the bed. I havent been able to smell it since the sheets are now on the bed.

Thanks folks..........

It was the smell that concerned me. I had a few responses that said the smell should leave within a week or so. I will keep watch. It certainly is comfy.

When mine was new, I took it outdoors in the fresh air to air it out...but if you do this, keep it in the shade, away from direct sunlight. By airing it out this way, you can get rid of the smell much quicker.

We have used a memory foam mattress for years, and it's hard to sleep on anything else now. That smell is called "outgassing" and it's just like what a "new car" smell is. There are those that say it's not really the best thing to breathe, so I would agree with the above post and air it out for awhile, but indoors somewhere is better, out of the weather and sunlight.

I have a Dormia, and yes they will smell for a while out of the package, but eventually it will go away. Best 3k I spent. We got a king and I love it. No more back aches.

Dormia is similar to a posterpedic only better. They are in some malls around the U.S. Bought it in NY and had it shipped to S.C. when we moved since there was not a Dormia dealer here (however there is one in N.C.) Glad the unpleasant smell went away. Sleep good.
