I am 57. I don't smoke, drink moderate and eat well. I don't take any pain reducing medicine. It could help but worry with reduced pain I may over do it.

No doctor, just going off the symptoms described. I have cut back the walking I already am feeling less strain. I am going to do this for a few more weeks and slowly increase walking to see how it goes. I hate being idle but the rest seems to be working.

Do you have medical insurance? If so, i would suggest going to a urologist and getting checked. It could be something else.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am pretty sure it's a strain because I know exactly when it happened and what I was doing. I will ask my doctor about it though.

Sure it’s not a varicocele? That will produce a dull ache that radiates down the leg.

I actually had to look this one up. I don't think this is the problem.

Update: I have backed off of my walking for the last 10 days. Muscle pain greatly reduced. I know I am not ready to go back to my regular routine. Still seems like good progress.
