Does anyone work out in these type gyms? Limited staffing hours, so you get a key fob when signup.

There are 3 where I live. Same owner for all of them. I have been amazed at what goes on in these little gyms. Since they are so small, bad or good behavior is very apparent.

Bad is people working out listening to their music with no earbuds. Talking loudly on their phones all over the little gym. Hogging up several pieces of equipment, when there is so few pieces of equipment. Now the really odd thing I see is many members are couples. I've never seen so many couples working out or arguing in a gym. I didn't know gyms allowed couples together in the private restrooms either. Like for 45 minutes or longer. As others are waiting to take a shower. I never death with this long a wait for a shower until lately. Not until I started working out at Florida key fob gyms. I can't believe the management doesn't know this goes on. It's so obvious the restrooms are right by the machines. You can see 2 of them coming out.

How is your key fob gym? Similiar or is this just more Florida thrashiness.

I've been an member of a 24 hour gym for about 5 years. Where I go is quite large, and they just expanded about 5000+ square feet. Everyone comes, does their workout and leaves, no funny business going on. Headphones are on, none yelling at each other & good policy for not talking on phone. I'm usually there around 7:30 at night, but have gone a couple times around 10PM.

I was at a 24-hr. gym for awhile. It had cameras all over, so the manager could review the films to see if non-members were gaining access, and if there was any inappropriate activity going on. Everyone knew there were cameras, so everyone was well-behaved. The manager was there for about 6 hrs./day. It was part of a chain with another location in town but that location had its own manager. It sounds like the place you use is a two-bit joint, that's too cheap to have a manager for each location, or even to afford cameras. You could make an appointment to talk with the manager when he's in, and discuss your concerns with him.

I go to one. Early in the am. The people there are working out before work so they are serious and trying to get in and out. The only irritant is whomever works out the night before leaves 45's and misc plates all over the place and loaded on the bars and equipment. I am usually the first one in there (so I can yell really loud in frustration) in the am and have to clean them off the equipment I want to use. Other than that and a weirdo parking outside early in the am a few months ago, there are no issues at all.

I have worked out in 24 hour gyms before. Same as Navyshow, lots of plates left either on the bars or on the floor but nothing to get too bent out of shape over.

My biggest pet peeve in a Powerhouse Gym was the bathrooms. Dear GOD what these men did the the toilets overnight should be criminal. Those of us who came in early, before the cleaning crew cleaned up their mess, had to deal with what looked like a murder scene in the bathrooms probably 3 to 4 days a week. We'd often wonder aloud what in the world did these people eat that would cause such intestinal issues?

I have been in one for a week. It was too small for me, you are too close on top of each other. That's why you notice all that behavior.

I am at a 24 fitness right now, there is staff but stuff still happens. So when that happens you just go to an area far away from these people. If the gym is very small, you cannot do that.

I would complain to management, especially about the people in the change room and time and date so they can look it up on the camera.

If nothing changes, go somewhere else.

Jaysus,

What a bunch of low class a-holes in those gyms.

Mines 24 hours. No issues.

It's a small town so the gym is rarely "busy", especially during the late hours when the owners aren't there. People go, they work out, the end. There are a few cameras.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I go between the type gyms I mentioned and LA Fitness. La Fitness is somewhat better, because there is staff there. The 24 HOUR key Fob are definitely worse though. I go to whatever gym is closer to me, when I'm out and about.

I cannot completely blame the gyms. Gym Clientelle are reflective of the regional population, Here you also have to add the mobs of tourists and visitors. Florida definitely has some I don't Care Types.

I actually did tell the manager, but it went in one ear and out the other. Obviously members mean money. Rocking the boat means lost revenue.

Thanks Again
