I get up early to do remote legal research & work on a TV series I must finish for a producer by December. I have coffee & either 6 oz of Greek yogurt, a bagel, a low fat brownie, or cold cereal. 2 hours after that, I do my work out. Then I shower & have a light early lunch, such as leftovers from the previous night's dinner, a veggie sandwich, baked sweet potato, or a bowl of cut up fresh fruit. It all depends on the person, but I can't exercise unless I have had a little something to eat.
After for me. I exercise while fasted, so just black coffee when I wake up. Then exercise, then I get ready for my day. I don't eat anything until 1 pm.
I wanted to know what is the best practice? Do you have breakfast before or after you workout?
Sometimes I skip breakfast and hit the gym but after a while I feel drained. On the other hand, if I eat and then I go to the GYM, I feel heavy.
Thanks!
Something with 18-30 grams of carbs and another 18-30 grams of a fast digesting protein taken about 30 minutes before your workout will stabilize blood glucose levels, provide amino acids and top off muscle glycogen. A scoop of whey protein powder with 8-10 ounces of skim milk would work perfectly here.

Breakfast 1st....you must get nutrition in if you expect to put your mind or body to work IMO.....a cup of cereal & plain yogurt......or an asparagus omelette with 100% whole wheat tortilla wrap.....garden & veggie frittatas are yum too....& they don’t taste “healthy”......
Keep it kinda light...but nutrition packed.....for the best workout! I wait at least an hour before working out tho....
You are gonna feel more drained without eating anything....food is fuel....
Depends what activities I’m doing in the morning. If running, I typically carb load at dinner so that I run on an empty stomach, eating breakfast afterwards. Lifting weights, I would eat enough to power me through a 45 min workout; which requires very little food. One good banana can deliver 2 hours of energy through an extensive workout.

Ideally, something like this should be done before doing weight lifting. Because I believe it helps preserve your muscle mass and keeps feeding them during the work out.
However, I usually lift on an empty stomach after I wake up because I get sick if I work out after eating something. Especially on cardio days I do fasted cardio. If anything I might have an energy bar or drink so that digests easier.
On rare occasions I exercise in the afternoon when I am done with the work day, then I'll have eaten lunch several hours before so it takes care of itself.
I wake up very early and eat something small with carbs....typically a breakfast bar or a small bowl of oatmeal. I know this intermittent fasting is all the rage now but if I don't have food in my stomach, especially in the a.m., I feel faint after lifting heavy plus cardio. To me, that's my body telling me I'm doing it wrong so I always try and have something in my stomach while working out.
