Same here.
If I don't, I end up sleepwalking. I guess either way, I end up taking a walk!

If I do train too hard though, I end up talking in my sleep (or at least, so I have been told).
I have to hit the heavy bag at least once or twice a week otherwise I fear I may end up on the 11 o'clock News!

I exercise because I've always been a fan of the Dylan Thomas poem that begins:

Do not go gentle into that good night
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Or the same thought with the different words of Don Henley:

I will not go quietly, I will not lay down.

I walk a little over 3 miles six AMs a week and do 250 curls, squats, presses with 10lb. dumbbells every other day.

Makes my old creaky joints work better/ache less and I feel better overall.

Listen, I LOVE my gym. It is 99% annoyance free. I will never leave this gym. But the 1%? Recently there has been a small uptick of members using their phones to record themselves on a machine/bench, ostensibly to review their form and potentially get feedback. That in itself isn't awful. But then I stumbled on a social media phenomenon where some of these videos are actually shot 'wide' so that the image captures passers-by and other members which at times the phone-owner will post and try to 'out' these people as creeps.

Yes it’s mostly female tick tokers. There’s a few men doing it to making fun of others. A few have been called out for it.
Check, out Joey swoll. He constantly called them out.

Technology in general and smart phones in particular are a plague upon our land.

Oh the irony of this very true post!
Submitted from a computer capable of accessing Internet, to an Online forum that can be viewed by thousands or even millions around the world.

By someone who should be doing something much more worthwhile with her time, as should the "thousands and even millions" reading it.

I've been asked whether it's for strength? for confidence/attraction? or whether I want to be a bodybuilder/ model?

Frankly, it seems more about wellness which is a multifaceted umbrella for endless things. If I don't workout for 1 week I start to feel depressed.
cough, cough..silent brag lol jk.

I get asked the same question sorta. My husband says I don't need to go the gym ever and says that 4 days a week to too much. I think most people still assume the gym = loosing weight, cardio heavy, for women at least. As a naturally thin woman, and a kid who was super skinny and had a family who obsessed over my weight and trying to get me to "not be skinny", you wouldn't have ever found me in a gym in my 20s. Started working out in my mid 30s specifically to gain muscle and strength and have never felt or looked better. Still get the women who use the word "skinny" to describe me, which I'm not

But my reasons for getting into fitness are for my health, to look good, I'll admit it lol, and it's gets me up early, out of the house and motivated..

I don't like exercising, but I think it's great when people do. I do exercise though, for health reasons, but no, I don't like it. I have to push myself to continue, it doesn't get easier...
