I weigh myself every morning, as soon as I get up and empty my bladder!! And I measure myself every week! I like being accountable to myself and the daily weigh-in just keeps me motivated and the weekly measuring lets me know that my healthy eating and daily exercise is working!! I am 5'4" and weigh 118, but it can fluctuate between 116 and 122 - depending on the time of day! However, I do feel that the measurement numbers are the most important!!
I am interested in what others do about weighing themselves, especially if you are trying to lose weight. There is the Bob Greene theory of weighing only once each week, there are some who weigh every day. I don't want to be crazy, but I feel if i weigh only once a week, I mess up and gain a pound or so. anyone?
Every day. That way I can tell which of my eating habits cause me to gain weight and which don't or even which ones cause me to lose.
I weigh myself at least once a week. My weight fluctuates between 270-275 and stand 6'3 with a 38" waist, with 280 being my heaviest (I lift heavy and am shredded, think wrestler John Cena. I do powerlifting meets so I have to eat enough to maintain my size and strength). For powerlifting, it pays to weigh over 240 lbs; especially pushing big weights.
My wife and I are both fitness freaks, so we compulsively weigh-in almost every day. And what's funny about this is that neither one of us needs to worry about our weight. (At least I know I don't; Leah might tell you different.)
This morning's after-sex weight in:
DrummerBoy: 173#. (I'm 6'-2")
Leah: (OMG: she'd put my balls in a blender if she knew I was tellin' y'all this): 133#.(she's 5'-9").
Never. I even refuse to be weighed at Doctor's offices and have them not tell me my weight.
I find is amusing how people weigh themselves incessantly. Most of any variance is water anyway.
I am 5'9 and assume I weigh about 133 pounds. I weighed 125 in High School and can still wear my HS jeans. I exercise religiously and at great intensity and don't need a scale to either validate or invalidate the effort I put into keeping fit.
So if I have a training run of 18 miles and weigh 3 more pounds the next morning, I am doing something wrong or am suddenly "fat?" Give me a break.
