Ya there are trade offs to every gym. gym a has more treadmills but the weight room looks like it got smaller after they remodeled. i use to go to gym A many years ago. they have the necessary equipment but not much room to walk around you would be close to people where in gym b you have a lot of space.

I tried planet fitness out and its not a gym to go to if you want to do free weights and on monday night its so crowded its like a night club in there. people wait 30 minutes to an hour to use their smith machine or longer. I heard someone waited 2 hours to use the barbell on the smith machine once. if you are ok with only nautilus and cardio its a good deal for a gym. I cant see anyone getting big at planet fitness. its cheap and crowded at times.

I think I can avoid that guy and I don't think he will continue with the gym without a workout partner.

I think gym b will workout for me it was a little crowded in the weight room this morning and they only have like 7 treadmills but they have ellipticals too. i was still able to get a treadmill without waiting.

Generally speaking, I would choose the closer gym.

This is a very valid point, a gym that is 1 minute away quickly loses it's appeal if it's filled with annoying and inconsiderate people (nasty bathrooms, weights in the wrong section, people using multiple equipment)

In general, I always choose the gym that's closet to home or closest to work, but consideration of the type of demographic that will be in the gym is another aspect.

For me, it would be gym A and I would try and go at times when the person I'm looking to avoid isn't there. The 20-25 minute drive would be the biggest deterrent for me.

The nearest LA Fitness is 10 miles from me, mostly a straight shot down the highway.

But still, it'll never be like the 3 minute drive (or 9 minute run, or 5 minute bike ride) to the neighborhood gym that sadly closed down in mid-2020.

Another thought is that, generally, more expensive gyms keep out the "riff raff" to some extent. I know the Planet Fitness's of the world who charge $10/mo are not only packed but full of people who can be annoying.

You mean gym b which is 20 to 25 minutes away. That's where the person is I am trying to avoid but I like that gym better. You would choose gym b.

I saw my first annoying person at the gym walking lunges starting at the entrance of the room blocking people from exiting the guy behind him looked like he wanted to punch him in the head blocking the entrance. The gym was busy too at gym B. The guy doing the walking lunges could of gone to another room where they have a strip for just that with astro turf.
