Dislocated my knee....Need recomendations
About 5 hrs ago while riding my dirtbike....SOB it hurt! I am sooooo worried about how this might effect my workouts.....anyone ever have this happen? How long before you worked out again? I'm soooo freaking out about not being able to work out soon.
My doctor says 2 weeks......no way...won't happen.....second opinions?

Go to an Orthopedic specialist. I had a heel spur--got so bad it threw all the muscles off in both legs. The doctor gave me a cloth brace/support to wear and in days I could walk again.
Sometimes you cannot 'Do It' yourself and mobility is very important.

ETA: I see that you did consult a doctor. Then go with heat and cold and keeping the muscles still for a while. If you keep stressing them things will go more slowly. jmo.
Ben gay and all that helps when I do freakish things to muscles.

Yeah, I've dislocated my knee twice. Count yourself damn bloody lucky you are only going to have two weeks of discomfort. I knocked off bone chips in the process, did a whole bunch of other damage and ended up having an operation each time to repair and remove. It was months before I was able to walk properly again and that was with the help of a physio.
Concentrate on your upper body and get into the pool for some lower body exercise. Best of luck to you. I live in fear that my knee will go out again as it's so unstable after all the damage. The two dislocations were unfortunately not the only occasions when my knee was injured.

When I dislocated mine (bowling, of all things!) as soon as the doctor re-located it the pain was minimal. I ignored the doctor's request to take it easy for 10-14 days and as a result I have chronic pain in my knee. Trust me, 2 weeks is well worth it to not have pain for the rest of your life.

I "blew" my knee out several years ago on the treadmill at my gym. The doc told me no more running but brisk walking was fine. It hurts every once in a while. Just one of those things I've learned to live with. But, two weeks isn't too bad to be off your knee. I don't think your fitness level starts to be affected until about a week or two without workouts anyway. I'm with the other poster, work out in a pool and concentrate on upper body, core exercises (maybe yoga?), and any floor exercises you can do until you can get back on the knee.
