Default chills when running

do you get chills when running? i've been doing some research and found that it's sometimes linked to dehydration. i drink a lot, but probably not enough. however, most said it happened to them when they ran outside and i get them running inside (i don't run outside much - it's too hot here). it's not cold or hot, it's a fairly warm temperature in the gym, so i can't figure out why i'm getting them. they come and last for about 30s to 1m and go away and then will come back and go away again. we had a brick workout this morning, where we biked and then ran for 15m and in those 15m, i probably got chills 3 or 4 times.

any ideas? thank you!

I got the chills once on a run. I'd gone canoeing that day, came home, did a hard bike ride, then pounded out six miles running. On the run I had goosebumps and the chills. But I had asked a LOT of my body that day

mmm, maybe my body just didn't like to be up biking and running that early... i don't know. i'm just running today so i'll see if it happens again. it's almost like i'm cold but hot at the same time sometimes too. kind of strange.

thank you for the replies!

Yeh that sounds like its trying to cool down from overheating. Be careful that can get serious really quick.

Visually..but what about body fat concentration? Kidney health? Intake (water and salt)?
Do you lose weight faster then the others? (higher metabs burn hotter)

But what you do is pull it back..Slow down until you feel normal.
Make sure you are hydrated correctly before and during.
(dont drink anything but a sip and keep it warm liquids. Cold will make you puke)

If it keeps happening get a check up.

Now...have you felt the diet chills? Like when you lose weight and you just get a shiver?
Is it that?

Thats the other thing I thought it could be. But its not going to kill you like heatstroke.

even body fat the other girls are about the same if not more than me. i wish i lost weight faster than others, we've been training for this tri for a little over a month and i've lost about 3 or 4 lbs, so i think that's average. i've been eating healthier too, more protein, no junk.
i didn't say anything at practice and i didn't feel like i needed to stop - although i was running pretty hard for me. i was trying to push it some. i just said something to my husband afterwards and then posted it on here. we're running in a little bit, i'll see if i get the same sensation. i'll slow down a little if i feel the chills again. if it keeps happening, i'll take a visit to the doc, but he'll probably say, "take it easy and don't run too hard", haha.

i'm not sure what diet chills are and not sure if that's it - could be. it lasts longer than a shiver but it's not like i'm really cold, it's kind of a weird cold sensation w/ the goosebumps like mtnbike said. it's strange, i'll watch it and see if it happens more. hopefully it was a fluke.

thanks pitt_transplant!
