Default Ballroom Dancing/Fitness

Went with the wife to see some friends who were competing at the Embassy Ballroom Dance Championships in Irvine this weekend and couldnt help noticing hot fit everyone was.

The women all seemed to have great muscular backs and shoulders and the guys has such small waists I couldnt help but wonder if there is a specific fitness routine to keep these shapes. The wife, who is a career ballroom dance champion says its just from hours and hours of daily practice for years to develop such bodies but I think there has to be more to it.

Are there any dancers here? Do you also spend 6-8 hours per day practicing? Is weight lifting part of your routine? Im just curious. My wife said she never used to lift weights but she has a totally ripped back and shoulders and said that it was from dancing.

"hot fit" lol......hmmm, wonder what you were really thinkin'

Anyway~ In HS (wayyy back in the day...8 years ago) lol, I was part of our spiritline or cheer squad (whatever you want to call it) which involved a tremendous amount of dancing and although we were required to weight train our practices and game appearances were definitly the biggest parts of our workouts and what kept us in shape....dancing, if you do it correctly, will definitly get you in shape and I'd imagine that ballroom dancing like cheer requires a lot of strength......hence the muscle tone. So yes, it is very possible to gain muscle while dancing depending on the type of dancing.
