Pre-workout meal for 5 A.M. workout.
I am beginning 5am workouts and need suggestions for a light brakfast that I can eat right before the workout. Any suggestions?

Kudos to you for being up at 5am to work out! Can you tell me how to do that?? Before I workout in the mornings I tend to eat half a peanut butter sandwich on wheat bread ... and maybe half a banana or some other fruit.

Hmmm yeah perhaps one of those granola bars and a banana. When you get back home you can eat a real meal. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

I can sautee two fistfulls of baby spinach and a little garlic in a splash of olive oil and then scramble them in two eggs in about 10 minutes. Good, high quality protein meal to give you a kick-start.

Can I ask what kind of workout are you doing and what your goals are? If you're lifting weights or doing intervals, you need to eat about an hour before the workout so the food gets into your system. If you're doing steady-state cardio and are trying to burn off body fat, it's best to not eat anything. That way you force your body to burn body fat and not the food you just ate. I do this every morning and it's helped me stay trim. It's hard at first and the first 20 minutes are the toughest. But once you get going, it's easier to stick with. Sometimes, I'll have a cup of black coffee to help me wake up and the caffeine helps with fat burning.

I can't eat before I work out. Mucho puko.
That being said, I'd stick with protein, and make it light. A hardboiled egg, or a slice of turkey or cheese.
