Default What is the muscle or tendon that connects hip to leg?

Lately while doind cardio I have been getting a pain right where my leg bends between my hip and top of my leg. Does anyone know what that muscle is?

Sounds like your Hip Flexors and/or IT Band

Find a foam roller, that will help. Also, stretch it out several times a day.

Could be an over use issue, the only thing to help that is rest.

Before we all jump in with our armchair diagnoses, I have a few questions...

* What type of cardio are you doing?
* How far into your workout are you when the pain occurs?
* Describe your stretching routine.
* If applicable, does post-workout stretching help?
* Is the pain at the front of your hip, the side, or more in your glutes?
* Is the pain just in your hip or do you have pain in your groin, ankles, knees, and/or back, too?
* How would you describe the pain?

Funny you ask, because I have the same problem - chronic. Attribute it to bad posture and golf swing. Will physical therapist for it soon.

I do running, walking and some of the exercise on demand dancing workouts on TV. The pain goes down my leg in the front. If I press where it hurts it is exactly in the middle of my leg and I can feel a muscle or tendon right there. It hurts when I flex my calf muscle but right at the top of my leg, I guess by my groin. It is weird, I can't really pinpoint if it comes from the hip or my leg. Stretching hurts, but running doesn't.

Hip flexor tendon.

Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch

Hip flexor strains or tendonitis are often missed by doctors. It severe cases it can cause bladder leakage leading to infections.

Take a look at this link for a diagram of the upper leg and a description of a hip flexor strain. Are your symptoms similar?
