Alas, often it is.

That's one of the reasons I would, on some level, like to see cars "go away", poof, disappear. People tend to get in those big metal boxes and somehow lose their humanity. That disconnect is....weird. Creepy weird. It's almost as if a switch in the brain is flipped.

Back on-topic: yes a bicycle should be operated in the same manner as a motor vehicle. Blowing through stop-signs is a no-no no matter what one's mode of transport: bicycle, automobile, foot.

That is sick you would say you would hit them or kill them for being an inconvience to you. Its not like they could kill you with the bike. Recently in the news here a man was hit by a driver. He had just become and american, voted in his first election, was working 7 days a week/14 hours a day to buy a house for his pregnant wife due next month and his already living small child living in china. He died.

Still feel right about saying that? If you do, you should seek professional help.

Are you guys listening to yourselves?
The majority of riders obey the laws and condone the knuckleheads that run signs. Remember, these same knuckleheads drive the same way they ride from the ones I've known.

Trust me, it's no picnic dealing with drivers. Just remember you can rear end a car and both will probably be fine. If a rider, they DIE every time.

There are a few cyclists out there who give all of us law abiding cyclists a bad name.

But try being a cyclist who obeys the law every day and gets shat on by disrespectful motorists who think they are the only ones who pay taxes and have the right to use the roadway. Try picking up a copy of the latest bicycle laws for your state...and leave me the hell alone while I'm just minding my own damn business and obeying said laws.

Hitting someone on a bike with a 3500lb car is similar to the 3500lb car getting hit by a freight train.

What do you think would happen if you nailed some guy on a bike anyway? You think he's just going to jump up and dust himself off and go on? He'll be lucky to not be dead.

I do my best to follow the rules when I'm riding my bike. However, I have almost been hit several times by motorists who completely ignore me. One car stopped at a red light in a residential neighbourhood, and then started driving through it as I was going maybe 15 mph. Second time I was going down the street and a car to my right exiting a parking lot came within 2 inches of T-boning me because he ignored me or thought I would yield right of way since he was in a car.

Some of you are complete *******s behind the wheel, like in that video above.

For me, I see three kinds of bicyclists. The Lance Armstrong-Brightly Colored ones, kids, and people who ride a bike because they have no other means of transportation.

If you take the kids out of the equation, 100% of the time, when I see a cyclist breaking the laws of the road, or doing stupid things in the roadway, its Lance Armstrong doing it.
If you leave the kids in the equation, I say 9/10 times, its the guy in the rainbow tights.

I find that amusing.

You missed type #4: the Commuter. Don't confuse the Commuter with the guy on the Wal-Mart bike who lost his license to too many DUIs.

The Commuter is often highly intelligent and highly compensated. Think Bill Nye. His bike is a workhorse, but is often a custom job worth 1-3K. He works hard, pays his taxes, and just wants to enjoy his right to the road as a taxpayer. Often law-abiding, he will most likely use hand signals and can often be distinguished by the use of a courier bag and/or panniers.
