I speak your language too. I played here in the US and spent about 6 months in NZ after college - loved the place.

On topic, I don't try to lift heavy weights any more. I used to try and at about 180 lbs benched 250 and could squat 425. As I got older, my joints started to hurt, and my training took at turn for what I found more effective for my chosen activities.

I made a bet with a lifter friend of mine who could would bench 200 easily that I could drop him in one punch without hitting his face. He gave me the up down and laughed. Did the neck chop blood cut off thing and he went strait to the ground. LOL I did not do it hard but he had a headache for his pride. LOL

I really suck at bench presses. I get freaked out if I go over 50. But I am a girl. I find pull ups way easier than benches. Leg presses are more my lifter rah rah!

At the age of 19 weighing about 175, I benched 290 with a 2 second pause on my chest and no back arching. That was my best bench press single. More impressively to me was my ability to get 20 reps with 225 at that same age and bodyweight. Best single dead lift was 460 at same age and bodyweight. Not sure about squat, but I think it was around 325. I haven't been into singles for the past 30 years, but my ego couldn't resist the urge at age 19. Pound for pound, I was so much stronger than most of my peers.

Back in the day, I could put my back against the wall and curl 135 for 10 good quality, no cheat reps. Now at age 60 and a bodyweight of 165, I can still get 10 reps doing concentration curls with a 50 lb dumbell. Like Rggr, I don't do much heavy stuff and rarely ever use a weight that I can't get at least 6 reps with. I use the leg press machine instead of doing squats ( back injury from improper dead lift technique at age 19 ). Even on the leg press machine, I go for reps ( 40 reps with 2-45s on each side ) rather than heavy weights. Rarely do I ever do traditional bench press. I prefer the incline bench using dumbells ( 6-8 reps with 75 lbs on my heaviest set ). Oh BTW, I couldn't punch myself out of a paper bag.
