Weight Gain: Frequent During Summer or Winter?
When are people more prone to gaining weight? During the summer or the winter? I find myself eating more food during the cold weather as opposed to the summer...what are your thoughts?

Everyone is different. For me, I guess I tend to need to workout much harder in the summer. All the barbeques, parties, picnics, concerts, etc. where food and beer are consumed in larger quantities usually gets me to away from my regular nutritional plan.
Winter is easier for me, probably because I run a lot more when its darker and colder. We dont get any snow here in L.A. and cold to me is 50-something degrees. Although I feel like I workout harder when its hot, I think I have more fun running in the cold weather.

Well, traditionally people would eat nutrient dense foods to pack on weight just before the winter and maintain that during the winter but now days people gain weight all year around due to the surplus of cheap food that's available; this is also why obesity is now a epidemic in the U.S.
Winter time however, for sure, people would pack on weight as people get reduced levels of sun shine. The suns rays during the winter time are different as well, the rays don't cause your body to be as active and your more prone to getting sleepy and depressed. This reduced level of activity could easly cause you to gain a few pounds or so... Nothing harmful about that...

I gain more weight in the summer for sure... I work in education, so I have a lot of free time in the summer.
A lot of free time to cook, eat and drink.

Most people typically gain more weight in the winter. Its cold outside in a lot of areas so people stay in doors, watch tv, drink beer, eat soups/chili, and are just generally fat/lazy pigs.

I tend to put on winter weight of about ten pounds or so, mostly from less activity. In the summer I ride my bike a lot, take a lot of walks, play some outdoor sports, and I just tend to burn off more calories. Winter in New England means I spend more time indoors and I'm not as active. I still go to the gym, but a frosty morning or occasional snow storm will be an excuse for skipping a few workouts. I hit it with a vengeance in spring, and I shed that ten pounds in about two months. My eating habits are the same all year round, it's the decreased activity that does it to me in winter.

I workout daily and am not a beanpole. When I was in highschool I weighed 128 lbs. at 6 foot, then I was a beanpole.

It looks like only me and Dixiechick are the only ones who tend to put on during the summer months. Summer is usually the time I go on a bulking diet anyways. Nice way to try to cover for the all the beer and grilled sausages that I consume at all the BBQs I go to during the summer. Seems like there's a bbq or beach picnic every week and that tends to wreak havoc on ones diet. Especially because I love COLD DARK beer.
When its winter time, I really tend to exercise a lot more outside. I LOVE running in the rain and I love running and/or doing trails in the colder weather.

I find myself eating richer foods during the winter, so I tend to gain more weight then. In the summer, I drink so much water to stay hydrated that I really don't feel as hungry.
Winter is the time of pumpkin spice lattes, warm stews, and yummy mochas.
