I had a few friends try it out at the gym on Monday, I was so surprised at how much they struggled to jump a rope. One guy could not time it to jump as the rope passed under his feet. I was like- are you serious? LOL

IZ, once you get the hang of doing the double unders, you should try high knee lift jumps and criss crosses to mix things up a bit.

I need to start jumping rope, and did it when I was a kid. I hate running, walking and treadmills. I like to bike, but a bike isn't in my budget for a while. I do belong to the YMCA, and do weight training and step aerobics 3x per week, and yoga 2x per week.

But I need to do more, plus compensate for those rare occasions when I can't get to the Y. Where's a place to get a quality jump rope? I looked on eBay, but all I saw was junk.

Any suggestions?

I got mine at Walmart- it was packaged by Gold's gym. It's heavy rubber with some weights in the handles. You can also adjust the rope. I paid less than $10 for it.

Jumping Rope is what I always do if I dont feel like going for a run or if my knees, hips or ankles are hurting. Its a much lower impact than running and what I always turn to if I have an injury or soreness. You can see from the video I posted above, jumping rope is NOT a high impact exercise. I do it on a rubber flooring and wear comfortable shoes.

When I watched the video at work I didn't have volume, but I'm home and I hear the rope, although I can barely see it. Dude's good.

I'm going to keep it up. I get some stares at the gym but I enjoy it.
