Today Sept, 26 is my idol and Americas fitness guru Jack Lalanne's 95th birthday (1914) and is still going strong and still exercising 6 days a week.

Jack Lalanne is as tough as ever
His latest feat — an attempt to swim 20 miles from Los Angeles to Catalina Island on his 95th birthday, which was Saturday — continued a lifetime of jaw-dropping stunts.
I remember watching his show when I was a kid.
My mom would exercise with him as her coach.
What a cool guy.
I really admire him.

Thanks for the info BlueWillow. Reading the thread title got me wondering what his birthday fitness feat would be this year. Thanks for providing the answer. LOL at one piece of info in that article: He lists his favorite book as Gray's Anatomy. Good one. Happy birthday, Jack.

I wonder how many youngsters realize that Gray's Anatomy was (still is) a very famous book before it became a TV show?

25 years ago, I remember seeing a picture of his birthday feat when he was a mere child of 70:

for his 70th birthday, he swam a mile while shackled to 70 boats carrying 70 people.

I remember watching my aunt exercise with him on TV. She would stand on a square board mounted on top of a circular thing and swing back and forth.

He's gonna skydive with George Bush I and II on his back!

Long years ago he came to my high school and gave a presentation. All of us guys were totally in awe of the man.

If anyone has the chance to get to 100, it would be Jack LaLanne. I remember very well the half hour TV shows he had back in the 60's. What a great attitude he had when the show premiered, and what a great attitude he has TODAY-saw an interview on him a few years ago (can't remember the station).

A couple years ago ESPN Classic had a 6 month run on his tv shows, they don't have it on now and I wish they would put them back on. He covered the bases health wise; showing which exercises work the best for people, showed what foods work for people, and always stressed about not looking behind, but looking FORWARD, in life.

And the guy sung on his show! I loved his show then-still love it today!
