Does anyone have any tips to reduce the amount of sweating my hands and feet experience during yoga? I have been going to a baptiste power vinyasa yoga class for almost a month now, and I am having trouble holding the poses because I am slipping all over my mat! I tried putting a towel on my mat, but that doesn't seem to work. I have always struggled with my feet sweating whenever I am bare foot, and with yoga, of course my feet are sweating. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Yoga socks and gloves maybe? Yoga toes possibly? Botox if it's bad enough, though that's a bit extreme.

I didn't know they made such things! Sounds promising. I'll have to try them out and see if they help. I don't have any problems during slower forms of yoga, but once it heats up, I'm all over the place! Do you know where I can buy them?

I wear cut off gloves when I do yoga.....not bcs of sweat but because it's easier on your wrists.....plus i come strait out of the weight room so I already have them on....

do you have a yoga mat? Maybe trying a different mat.

I did this once and it was really bad! Not only did I have white powder everyone, once I started sweating, the powder had the opposite effect. I was really sliding all over the place!

The gloves seem like the best option, although I might consider a different mat as well. My doesn't seem to be as sticky as others are. I don't see other people having this problem. I talked with my yoga teacher and she suggested using a beach towel over my mat. That didn't really work either.

I saw that Target is supposed to carry the gloves and socks, so I'm going to check that out. It's really hard to concentrate on my practice when I'm sliding all over the place.

lol....I hear ya....down dog isn't much fun when you can't hold the position......try a mat that's not smooth....one with texture to it.....and gloves....that should do the trick. Good luck...Namaste

I suggest trying Prana's eco mat - they have a surface which stays sticky even with lots of sweat. Also, you may want to try having a small hand towel nearby to dry yourself off in between asanas.

Namaste and good luck,

Well, I found the yoga socks at Target, so I gave those a try last night. They worked okay. They would twist up on me a bit and I would have to straighten them out, but I wasn't sliding! I also bought a new mat. I went with a natural rubber mat from Gaim (sp?) and it seemed to have a much stickier surface.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Hopefully this mat retains its sticky surface and I can focus more on my practice rather than my sweaty hands!
