There's a kit that comes with resistance bands that you use on hands and feet while following a taebo dvd. Anyone know if it truly provides exercise and enough resistance to build muscles? Or should I stick to using dumbbells for weights? Can't afford a gym membership at this time. They are expensive out here!
Really it depends on your fitness level and the level of resistance of the bands. The physiological bottom line is that novel stresses spur muscle growth... with appropriate nutrition and recovery periods.
Or if you are interested in cardio, same general principle, but just at a resistance level that hits the endurance fibers rather than the power fibers, along with impinging some on your air and pulmonary rates. (i.e. red vrs. white muscle fibers, etc.)
In short, your body doesn't care what the resistance is generated by, just it's characteristics.

In my Leslie Sansone 5-Mile Walking Challenge, she uses the stretchy band for a while (in the 5th mile).
I think it works ok, but I like the free weights better (that's in there too). I use the weights in the 1st and 3rd mile of it.
