I think the "in secret" wording is giving me a difficult time answering. I'm picturing getting up in the middle of the night, driving out of my neighborhood with the headlights out to "secretly" go to the gym, followed by secretly finding empty conference rooms to eat celery in during the workday. I think "privately" is more appropriate wording.

Ah - well, I wouldn't lie if someone asked me (but I can't imagine any of my friends asking anyone if they were on a diet - do people do that??) but I wouldn't broadcast it either, so yes private, no secret (unless you count my secret life as a "celery stalker"... LOL....)
On the other hand, it's not something I bring up. A "thanks" is all someone will get out of me if they throw a compliment my way. I never elaborate on my "secret".
My health habits are private. I don't discuss my food choices or my workout routine with other people, although I certainly wouldn't deny them if asked directly. But, frankly, I don't know why it would ever come up.

My rule is that the default setting for health issues is Do Not Repeat. I don't care if you are getting a facelift, brain surgery, going to rehab, have HIV or are starting a stupid diet...anyone who shares health stuff with me, my rule is to not share that info.

Sort of, I guess, in that I don't work out in front of anyone but people know I work out. I don't diet, I just changed my eating habits for good.
