I know that, Met, and am not complaining about that. I do pay property tax along my neighbors
I also pay for property insurance. Now, some people can't afford insurance, while others reside outside fire cervices. Those I really feel sorry for.
The kid playing games on ice is just one of those things a lot of kids do (did some crazy things myself as a child). I have no idea why he was charged with a crime, and have said so numerous times. The way such things were handled years ago was a lot straightforward as the parents got involved in the process. But nowadays "the government" takes over from the beginning most times. The kid was to spent 10 days in jail, but the time was suspended
It makes no sense to me.

I suspect in this case the thinking behind the jail time (and the way the publicized the heck out of it) was mostly to discourage other people from behaving similarly.
