What a bunch of aviation addicts, and I am proud to be of their acquaintance!

PS I took all of the in-flight pictures and than many of the on ground ones- me and my friends Greg and Lucas took most of the other. And of course this is Lucas' album.

I do, too. There is a C-47 Gooney Bird on display at Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX. It's been there since before 1962. I love that little gem. My father loved it too. That's what he flew over The Hump during WWII. I have a framed shoulder patch with a comic embroidered pic of the Gooney Bird with "Teeny Weeny Airlines" around it. It's one of my little treasures.

Oddly, I don't care anything at all about the newer aircraft. It's the planes from the 40s and 50s that I like.

They're just like the automobiles from the era. True machines. All cable and wheels and maybe hydraulics. And the men that flew them. Real men. Bygone era of guts and glory.

What is this? Is that payload storage in the belly? Very unique.

Yes, it's a cargo pod. There are three compartments. The front holds around 250#, middle around 300#, and the back is about 100# or so. I used to load and fuel them until about five years ago.

Thanks. How are they loaded? From the top through the belly of the plane?

I sure like the looks of that plane.

The plane is a Cessna Grand Caravan. The pod has three main doors on the bottom. The whole plane can hold 2500#s of passenger/cargo. It carries 9 people up top. Depending on the number of passengers, the main cabin can be split between seats and bypass or regular mail.
