Default Anyone looking for a cabin in Fairbanks?

We're going to be doing something and we would like to rent our house out. It is a smaller cabin with a large loft bedroom. There is running water, 1000 gallon holding tank, septic system and a monitor heater which keeps it nice and warm. It is very easy to get to no 4x4 required to get to the place. Pets are allowed but no dog teams. It won't be avab. till mid-late June. References are required and so is a deposit. This is a nice place and will be move in ready. Can even furnish.
If your interested send me a message.

You are moving again? No dog teams, so is the son still doing the dogs?

My son is leaving for the airforce in late May. The place is just to close in for a dog team and I don't think they're really allowed some sort of zoning. The dogs have already been placed with other mushers. Not really moving per say but we want to do or try something on some land we purchased elsewhere so we figure rent our this place for what our house payment is + a little for us and we can do it.

Hey Megensmom,

Congratulations on your son entering the AF. My son has been in for a little over 3 years now. Air Force treats 'em better than the other branches.

Im proud of him but sad, mad, glad and about 100 emotions as well. We are always busy for sure. My husband has a very ill mother as well and we want to go visit her as we feel her time is limited. And then we also have a mandatory trip to NY as my husband is Native American and his government has decided that in order for their enrolled members to keep getting annuity checks once a year in June they have to physically come to the reservation and renew.
We are thinking about doing some fishing as well out on a friends boat for at least 2 weeks and who knows what all. We're not getting any younger and are kids are growing up and leaving we want to make forever memories and our time is slipping away.

You will have the emotions, and trust me you will never quit worrying, but you will also be very proud of your son and never stop

I'm glad you found other homes for the dogs that you got. Sometimes it isn't that easy; the animal shelter in Fairbanks is usually overflowing in the spring with unwanted dogs that people purchased with the idea of having a dog team. I'd advise anyone with such plans to give Alaska a couple of years before making a commitment like that.

BTW I'm a bit confused...didn't you have a house in Central, AK?

Sure do still have it. Its what we like to call the family home. Its fully paid for and was signed over to us and we plan to pass it along to one of our boys at some point. We also bought some state land and we have a place we are buying in Fairbanks. So been really busy.
It wasn't to hard to find someone to take the dogs in fact we had 4 of them spoken for before we ever came to Fairbanks to live. A couple went to Barrow and a couple to Big Lake all going to people that were looking to replace dogs that were getting to old on their teams and all went to people who were looking to help bring back some of the big lines of freighting sled dogs. But your right the shelter is full of Iditarod hopefulls people that got a bunch of fast dogs thinking they could win big $$ and it didn't work out. And the sad part is lots of those dogs are unsocial they don't want people touching them and they for the most part don't make good house pets which makes it very hard to get them adopted to non-mushers. We were lucky the found homes so quickly. I think mushing is becoming a dying sport people just can't afford it and with Cold Spot Feeds in Fairbanks deciding to no longer carry mushing stuff it makes the cost even more.
