Can someone please tell me why all of those people on I-29 are driving through that water? Yes- I know most of them look fine, but if you can't see the road, then it is not a good idea to drive through it. Parts of I-29 could be washed away, and they wouldn't know it until it's too late!

Turn around, don't drown people...

I-29 was closed around 6 pm Monday....

But yes until then yes folks were driving through it....being directed by state patrol (I think). Many folks agree they waited a bit too long to close it....but realize it has lots of traffic so they wanted to keep it open as long as possible.

Also it's more like a giant puddle, not rushing waters. So not really much danger of washouts along the interstate. So long as you don't wander off the pavement!!

BTW I just got asked, how is Moorhead doing? No one seems to mention flooding there.

Moorhead is fine...like the city of Fargo protected... both cities did work since 09 in buying out some homes and thus didnt need the amount of sandbags this time as in 09. They protected themselves to 42 ft luckily didnt get that high. Now overland flooding to the north of Moorhead toward Geogetown along the Buffalo/Red is bad with 75 closed. Worst overland flooding in Cass county along Maple/Sheyenne/Rush rivers.

That's not actually true. The ground underneath the roadway has a chance to get soaked/loose enough to the point of roadway collapse.

Thanks guys. I'll probably take 94 to 83 to route 2 in Minot. I'm in Des Moines tonight and hope to make somewhere in ND tomorrow evening. Driving my semi so I don't push as far as I would in a car. Another trailer full of stuff on its way to Williston.
