Jan, ya I think we are gonna fly instead as it costs a lot, $750 for me and 2 kids to go by train this is with the sleeper accomodation. No way will I travel 35 hours in seats with 2 kids, LOL. I actually rode the one from California to Seattle when I was younger and it was so peaceful and relaxing, but ya your right. I was so excited to see Oregon but the entire time in Oregon it was overnight. I think this one hits ND in early morning but may hit part of MT at night. You actually see more on a bus cause the train is so fast.
I wonder why there is no cameras, I can go a long time without seeing attendants on there.

Tragic situation. My heart goes out to his loved one's.
Here's what I find puzzling. Whenever I've ridden Amtrak they collect tickets about 1/2 hr or so after departure. So, I would think they hadn't even collected this poor young man's ticket yet, since he was so close to home. I hope they are checking on things like when the tickets were picked up. I sure hope they figure out who did this to this man. Someone that didn't want their name on record maybe?? Using his ticket?? Wonder if He still had his ticket on him when He was found??

I read all the articles about Jared and this story really makes me sad. That last update, his father said Jared was headed to Chicago to start a new life as he had been struggling with a drinking problem.

The other articles said how much good he had done working in a theater program in a small town, how he had such good close friends that he worked on film projects with, seriously it's a really sad story.
