Cost of Living in Fargo (Bismarck, Grand Forks: apartments, rentals, college)

Ive heard the cost of living in Fargo is cheap compared to much of the country and seen numbers that seem to support that but want to hear the opinions of people who have lived there. I have applied for a 25k per year job with benefits. im sure I can live on that as ive live fairly cheap, but would i barely be making ends meet in fargo, or is the cost of living low enough i could save some money with that salary. my lifestyle is probably similar to the average single college student minus tuition costs.

Fargo is the cheapest of any of the ND cities.... 1 BR rentals from 400-500 are quite common and in good locations (newer complexes closer to 600 or so). Gas is typically about 10 cents less than where I live in Grand Forks and about 15 cents less than Bismarck-Minot due to more competition.

I dont know about where you come....but from my perspective living in Grand Forks about 1 hour north and from someone who travels to Fargo frequently....it would appear cheap enough to live on 25K. Many people do so.

So much of it depends on expenses (obviously). If you don't have a bunch of extraneous bills to pay down, you should be able to sock a bit of money away.

I know many people paying 3-400 a month for a studio/one bedroom. 25K is enough, plus there are so many other opportunities for part time around here as well.
