I lived in fargo for 21 years (23 years old now), I rented from Goldmark for 2 years. In my opinion, DO NOT rent from Goldmark, they aren't a very good management company. Try and find a place that isn't owned by Goldmark.
There are a LOT of apartment/townhouse complexes.. as the city is rapidly growing. You shouldn't have a problem finding a good home.

Have fun in the winter (its been blizzarding there currently)

Unfortunately, it seems like more than half of the properties are owned by Goldmark.

Try some apartments closer to NDSU. When i was at NDSU, i moved every year and i dont remember any of the landlords doing a credit check on me. One time, there was this landlord who had me sign the application for rental which did not even look like a contract and did not have a place to write my SS#. But these apartments are pretty old though

Hi you all,
I was trying to create my own post and somehow cant do it so I will continue this one and hopefully someone sees it!
My husband and I are relocating to Fargo this Sep 2013 with our 18 month old son and 2 cats from GA. We will be about 2 yrs in town as he will do his post-doc at NDSU.
We would like to move to a nice, quiet and neighborhood close to a park\ play ground. A small townhouse or specious apt. would work or us. Any experience with Candle park properties? their condos seem decent.
Any other recommendations for property management ones?
Additionally, I would love to get recommendations for daycare\kindergartens for our little one.

Would love to hear anything you can tell me about town.
Thank you in advance and happy 4th of July!!!!

Hi, glad to hear you are relocating to Fargo for your husband's education. He'll love NDSU. As far as apartments, you'll want to make sure check the one you are looking at allows cats. Many apartments do, they just require an extra security deposit. If you go with an apartment, usually your heat, water, trash and sewer are paid; townhouses you have to pay them yourself usually.

Hope that helps you out some!

I and my husband are trying to help a young couple with a baby boy find an apartment. They each have a felony on their record about 3 or 4 years old now. They are trying very hard to keep things together and make a decent life for themselves and their baby. We are helping them call apartment buildings trying to find an apartment for them but to no avail. We are reaching out to anyone who can offer assistance, advise, or direction as to who might be willing to rent an apartment to them. We currently are helping them stay in a motel and are fast heading towards bankruptcy court.

I can only suggest contacting agencies that assist with transitional housing, or that know the rental housing market well. You might call these places being very clear that you are asking only for a referral list, not for direct assistance or services.
Fargo Housing & Redevelopment Authority - Fargo, ND
Churches United Shelter--the program that assists with transitional housing: Churches United for the Homeless || Contact Us
Lakes & Prairies Community Action Agency (serves Clay County & Moorhead, MN) FCS Housing Programs

Hope this gets you started--
