Thoughts/opinions on Horace as a place to live and raise a family (Fargo: homes)

I like that Horace has homes that actually have a little more than 1/4 acre. The homes seem to be cheaper in that area, so I'm wondering if there is a catch other than being outside of Fargo. I would really appreciate any information about the area.

Fargo has been building south no doubt....with subdivision growth southward. The main issue right now for the long term is the fargo diversion.....diversion proposed around the city of Fargo to protect it from flooding. Right now the proposal would have land south of about 100th Ave S used as potential storage of water in times of flood. This would mean potential buy-outs of folks in that storage land area....oxbow is a prime example of an area that may be affected and its residents bought out. This is a long term project still in the US Corps study mode....but Horace area would be close to the alignment zone and thus areas near the town itself and surrounding areas impacted. The uncertainity of where/when this diversion will be put will significantly impact any land/housing issues in that area.

The city of Horace strongly opposes the planned diversion in its current form....

Here is the current alignment in the latest study... the city of Horace would be on the inside of it...but just south and west would be water storage areas....

Though currently Moorhead schools are having great difficulty due to funding issues because of the conflicts in the MN state legislature. Class sizes of 30-34 in the primary grades are not unusual.
In comparison, Fargo school class sizes are 18-22.
