How doable is this in the winter ? I am guessing everybody has 4-wheel drive vehicles but how are the roads kept clear enough for driving? do they do a good job clearing it ??

What gas prices in fargo now...here we are about 2.20 but it has been as high as 3.89...any info on this appreciated.

thanks

I know many people who do what you are proposing. The government does a great job keeping the roads clear. From where would you be commuting?

Yesterday a gas sation in moorhead had gas at 2.06. If you're a Sam's Club member it's a 1.99. Fargo-Moorhead enjoys below-average gas prices.

There's a lot of people here in Valley City who work in Fargo. Some drive by themselves, but a lot carpool with others. We're 60 miles west of Fargo on I-94.

Speed limit is 75 MPH, so when roads are good (spring-fall & most of the winter...depending on blizzards) it takes 45 min to the edge of Fargo from the time you leave Valley City.

you would be suprised to see the majority of vehicles stuck in the snow are those that have 4wd. People get way too confident in it thinking its the end all be all. When it comes time to brake though, thats when they get a suprise.

I have gone through some pretty heavy Noreasters in CT, where you can get feet(s) of snow easily, driven on the highway when everyone else was long gone or through some bad stuff here in ND with a front wheel drive vehicle. Know the vehicle limitations and you will be set.

Keep in mind too that if it gets really bad, they will close the roads.

I also know a lot of people who do this. Not a big deal. They do take care of roads. I personally would not like the "paying for gas" part.
