Here's a good place to start.

jobhq.com
ApartmentsHQ is your headquarters for Red River Valley area apartments

Here's my advice: There's 3 univerisities and a few colleges here, this town is saturated with folks with degrees. You're going to have some stiff competition here, especially if you're lacking university-level sheepskin and how lousy the economy is (we're doing better than the rest, but there have been layoffs and such). On the brightside, higher education is cheap here, so if that's on your mind I'd check it out.

Anyway, good luck and welcome to Fargo.

This is disappointing. North Dakota has one of the very lowest unemployment rates in the country right now.

I thought if you can stand the cold and all the rest, North Dakota had plenty of jobs available.

Aha, as I suspected, it's really not true.

Anyone else care to chime in on this issue?

Unemployment is one thing, _under_ employment is quite another. With the colleges in town, there are a fairly high number of young people looking for that first position. There are a number of call center jobs which need some technical skills. Then someone could take advantage of the local tech schools to get some credentials and really get a foot in the door somewhere.

So in other words, if you have a college degree and you're looking for a generic McJob (that would make use of a degree or require one to get hired) it's going to be tough?

Yeah, more or less. An administrator job. Some sort of a position that provides a lower middle class income in a white collar type of office environment that you couldn't obtain without a college degree. You don't really have to have special training for the field but you won't get hired without a degree. Aren't there jobs like that?
