Hi everyone!

I am moving to Fargo in July. I have never been there! I was raised in cold weather and snow and such. I don't remember a lot of it but my whole family loves winters. I have never liked the heat. I live in Arizona right now and am looking forward to changing. I have secured an apartment in North Fargo, and I'm realizing that most of the businesses are in the downtown or South Fargo. My main question is, how is the bus system? Does it run even during snow storms etc? Also how bad are the mosquitoes!? Those honestly are my two biggest concerns lol. Anything else you feel is important for a new comer please let me know!

You can see all of the bus system information at Metro Area Transit: Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota
They are pretty good about keeping the buses running as long as possible, even in the event of storms. They do shut down when it gets too dangerous, though. That happened once last winter while I was riding the bus, but at that point EVERYTHING was shutting down.

As far as mosquitoes go, it largely depends on how well the spraying works and your proximity to water. When they catch the spraying right, they aren't too bad in town, especially if you are far from bodies of water. They have been pretty good about that, even last year when June was ridiculously wet.

I agree with Travis about the mosquitoes... They aren't too bad in town, relatively speaking... I don't really think about it too much, it's just something that you deal with... I have never taken the bus system here, so I can't say much about that... Well I took it this spring when we went sandbagging, but that wasn't really on the bus route so anyway, good luck!!

The bus system is pretty limited, but decent for what it does and the size of the city. The good news is north Fargo is probably the best-served part of town (other than downtown where the main bus station is). Just check out matbus.com as the other reply indicated, and find out if it goes where you need.

How the system works is almost every route starts or ends at the downtown station, and go various directions from there. So if you live in north Fargo and work in south Fargo, you take one bus from home to the downtown station, then connect to another bus to go from the station to work (or as close as possible). All the buses leave the downtown station at the same time (quarter after and quarter to the hour) so you should be able to make a quick connection in most cases. If you work downtown, you'll most likely only need to take one bus.

The bus system has very limited hours though, so it'll work fine for commuting to 8-5 work hours, but not if you work late/early or want to go to a movie or something. The main bus hours are about 6am-9pm Monday-Saturday, with no Sunday service.
