It’s always best to restrict things like this (nude sunbathing) to specific areas where large signs notify everyone of this type of activity. Similar to the dog park in our town, I know that if I don’t want to step in doggy doo doo, I should avoid walking in this dog park. The signs are up and posted that everyone must “pickup” after their dog, but some people don’t do that.

No problem with me at all. I just don't do it when around people I know (spouse is fine though) or kids. I've gone topless many times and it was no big deal. I would not feel comfortable around kids nude or topless. Restricted areas are best imo.
There is a place in Austin called Hippie Hollow that allows it and it is city public property on the lake.
have you people seen the bikinis the young and sometimes not so young wear at the beach ? jimidy crickets ! they just as well be nude and is it really worth all that shaving/waxing/plucking,etc.. ? sigh.......
When I was stationed in Germany, I enjoyed going to the many nice indoor pools (a lot like the water parks we have here Stateside) Most of them have saunas that are coed. And you can't wear clothing. I approached this concept with the usual American trepidation, but finally decided to try it. Turns out I had nothing to fear... The heat makes "rising to the occasion" the last thing on your mind. It's just a nice, relaxing way to enjoy talking with your fellow bathers. Granted, we never went with American friends but I've sat and talked with our German neighbors and it really was no different than sitting out on a porch with them.

I think nude might be better than in a bathing suit. Seems to me, since my body is less than perfect, that it looks better without the dinky pieces of cloth highlighting the imperfections.

I wouldn't sunbathe nude. Only a few chosen girls are worthy of seeing me naked.
