i wear undershirts always. as a man i sweat a lot, and it helps in avoiding sweat marks on my back lol
that and i dont care what people think about my undershirt.
good for you, and I feel the same way too....
oh and BTW when it is hot out, I get sweaty too......
I wear a V-neck undershirt with buttondown shirts such as dress or sport. If it is super casual like a print (think Hawaiian), no undershirt. If it is a polo type shirt, no undershirt. That's basically the rules I follow.
I wear V-neck because the crew neck gets uncomfortable around the neck (for that reason I've never worn turtlenecks). V-neck can get unconfortable also since I have a rather barrel chest. Makes the skin itch as well.
This is generally when going somewhere and not around the house. Generally I wear T's.
Do you realize how bad it looks? It makes you look like you're still getting dressed by your mom also ! I admit I used to do it, but stopped a few years ago, it makes you look sloppy.
I agree. Absolutely no undershirts for me. Looks like crap.

My dad does it all the time... with regular t-shirts!
It could be OK if the t-shirt sleeves were shorter than the shirt's! Which is not always the case...
I wear them under my t-shirts as well. Yep an undershirt, under my tee, just feels right.
This just in.....
I also wear socks and underwear but that is for another thread.
Undershirts under a dress shirt and polo's, yes. My DH wears undershirts under his polo's and button up dress shirts. He also wears socks. As for the underwear......... I can live without him wearing that on certain occassions
I'm with the majority here. I think NOT wearing an undershirt under a button up dress shirt and some polo's looks bad and sloppy. Not only does it look sloppy but sweat stains, deodorant stains, etc don't help your shirts any.
I'm a dude. I'm a big dude. I got a huge wash of testosterone in the womb that resulted in my being 6'2, about two feet across at the shoulder, with a massive cro-magnon brow and a chin that can deflect bullets or open soda cans, depending on whichever need arrives. I work out a ton, I wear size 15 shoes... what I'm getting at here is that I'm a big dude.
I wear dress shirts for work; I also wear button-downs on my days off, depending on what I'm up to... I have some nice polos, as well.
Since I'm a man - and have that "real man" physique - I also sweat a lot.
Do you know how expensive Burberry polos and tailored Ascot Chang formals are? When you are making an effort to project yourself as someone who takes their image seriously, the last thing you want to do is have a $170 shirt with yellow or deoderant-colored pitstains on them, or take your suit jacket off and have a sweaty transperancy that shows off your lats.
Maybe your mom made dressed you that way because it's classier than being sweaty and sloppy.
Funny I have always thought undershirts should only be worn when its cold out as an additional layer of clothing. I think men look sissy when they wear undershirts. The guys that wear wifebeaters in the gym to workout instead of a normal tank top also look sissy.
I disagree with the OP's opinion with this one. I think an undershirt ~ if it's even visible at all ~ completes the look. I'd rather see the faint outline of an undershirt than the guy's chest. And it likely helps to soak up sweat before it hits the outer shirt.
