Rather than resurrect threads from two years ago I figured I'd start a new one, especially since this is my first adventure into the fashion forum

I'm going on vacation in a couple months, out of the country, and need a good pair of comfortable shoes, suitable for sightseeing all day long, walking for miles, that do not scream "American Tourist". I'd like shoes that will look good with both shorts and jeans so I'm not stuck wearing my running shoes all the time. NO heels over an inch or so - I always think heels with shorts look trashy

It would be nice if I could wear them to the beach as well, but I suppose cheap flip-flops won't take up much room in luggage and I can always ditch them before the return trip.

These are some I've been looking at, so you have an idea of what I'm looking for. I don't want to spend a fortune either.

Merrell | Store | Women | Footwear | Filters | Siren Strap Sport

Merrell | Store | Women | Footwear | Filters | Bassoon

Are Merrell's really comfy I've never owned a pair.

What other brands are out there that would be good to check out? Links/pictures would be much appreciated.

Nice! I like that they're slip on, so they'd be good for getting through airports and slipping off to be comfy on a long flight.

I know me, and I'll probably end up ordering four different pairs of shoes and just taking the one I like best, but wearing all the others at home. I'm a shoe nut

Take a look at Cole Haan's Air Nike line. I've got a couple pair and they're built like a running/athletic shoe, but on a more fashionable upper.

If you're heading to Europe, I'd avoid flip flops. You just don't see people wearing them, except maybe from their beach cabana to the waters edge.

Merrells are comfy, and those sandals look nice.

I'd want something that protected my toes, though ... Mine seem to have "step on ME!" printed on them somewhere ...

Mesphito's are out of this world, I tried them on in a store, my feet were in heaven!

I walk around Disney a lot, and I am always trying different shoes/fit flops,etc..

Well, I just ordered the Merrells (Siren Strap style) and the Privo Kulins (thanks Chess) from Zappos (yay, free shipping).

They should arrive in time for me to wear each of them for a day to see how my feet feel at the end of it.

Hope you love 'em as much as I do. I've worn them all over Europe, I take 'em to NYC too. Great great walking shoes!!

Any other these days?

I agree that Merrels are good! I'm talking for TONS of walking when on vacations type of comfort!

I brought some Hush Puppies shoes for a little trip & those $80-85 shoes hurt me so badly, I wanted to throw them straight in the trash!!!
