What are some characteristics or qualities that define a "Plain Jane" (or "Average Joe")?

Shapeless, formless clothes in earth tones with no pizazz. Droopy hair with no product or discernible style. Mousiness. No make-up on the gals. Sweatshirts on the guys. Not intelligent enough to be a dork. No outstanding facial or physical features. Bland. Blah. Dull. Frumpy. No passion for a cause or hobby. Just kind of there.

Plain Jane: No qualities that make them stand out in a crowd, yet nothing that makes them disappear, either. Not overly tall (for a woman), yet not really short. Not really overweight, but not really skinny. Generally does not wear make-up, or if do, then as little as possible. Ironically, doesn't really need make-up. Decent hair style. Nothing outrageous or trendy, yet doesn't let the hair go. Usually just a basic hair style, pony tail, easy to manage. Clothing: nothing trendy or overtly sexual. Does not dress like a conservative grandparent, but doesn't keep up with current trends. Tends to wear clothes that they like for comfort, not to impress. They tend to not follow trends all together, yet are not close to being loners. Man, my ideal woman!

Dull witted with no sense of style or personality accompanied by a physical appearance that draws no attention whatsoever.

Not slender but not fat. Not adventurous but not a stick in the mud. Wears normal clothing (jeans and a t-shirt), not trendy but not old-fashioned, and certainly not dirty. Earns the median income for their metropolitan area.

Sort of what Avienne said but more pleasing to the eyes than that.

I don't think "plane jane" is a physical state, but a mental one- this is a female who is out of touch with her feminine charms. Thus, if this changes "plane jane" will realize the power of the "P" ...in personality. And plan jane won't be plain anymore.

Man, my ideal woman!
Definitely, yes.

Also they can totally transform into the image of stunning with right close and hairstyle, still no makeup needed, though they won't feel at home all dolled up but have the potential whenever they want.

I've always considered myself a "plain jane"

I have that "forgetable face". There's nothing that strikes someone enough to remember me, good or bad.

I also have the type of face where everyone thinks I look like someone else they know...I get this all the time "you look just like my....(fill in the blank) ...or "do I know you from...you look just like...(fill in the blank)".

It would be nice to be remembered for ME sometimes. But, I do like having the anonymity sometimes too.
