I love wide-legged pants and think they can look great on tall people, but these need to be tailored so they fit better.

The color looks better indoors.

The pants are a tad too long even with shoes. Plus Michelle always has flats on for the most part.

I was more bothered by the fit of the jacket until I saw that it came with a belt. I don't like green clothes with dark brown skin but that is my own personal hangup.

She was visiting a mosque, for Pete's sakes..!! What was she supposed to wear? I remember seeing a picture of Iman (the model, wife of David Bowie) years ago when she visited Indonesia with her husband. She wore a body hugging, low cut, sleevess black top with black denim and high heels. She looked great if she was in the US, but there she was completely out of place. You could tell from her expression in the picture that appeared in Indonesian media how extremely self conscious she felt because she was the only woman wearing sleeveless in the room, and she wasn't even in a mosque. The picture was accompanied by a mocking comment from the media that published it. I wish I could find that picture and show it here right now.

I'd say give Michelle a break! Most non Muslim women have no clue how to dress elegantly with muslim outfit anyway. You didn't hear Indonesians complaining about her outfit, did you? Isn't it the main objective for the outfit, though?

I think Michelle Obama is a beautiful and classy woman. That being said, I don't care for this outfit on her, in or out of Indonesia. It's actually the first time I've seen her in something I don't like. I am sure it is a very beautiful fabric which did not photograph well.

Again? She needs to stop wearing that suit anytime she may take her shoes off.

I'm sorry y'all don't agree with me but I stand by my comments. I never suggested that she should have worn something that would offend her hosts but there are vast numbers of other options that would have provided the same coverage and not have looked so ill-fitting and ghastly hued.

1) Michelle Obama was visiting a mosque in a fairly conservative Muslim country....loose fitting attire, arms completely covered, hair/head covered....all are necessary for a Western woman to avoid an "incident" in a Muslim culture.

2) I like most of her outfits. She definitely has style, class, poise and charm.

3) I find it rather interesting that the same sort of "snippy" comments were not made about Laura Bush who (although a nice lady) was not as proactive and nowhere near as stylish as Michelle Obama.

All celebrities and well known folks have fashion disasters. I guess it's a matter of taking risks. I know I have and look back at the pics and think, "What was I thinking?!?"

I vote not a disaster, though not especially flattering. Most body-concealing garments aren't, though.
