Has anyone seen the photos of Michelle Obama in Jakarta? Obama's Indonesia trip: Michelle dons headscarf as she visits mosque | Mail Online

I understand that the pants are too long because she took off her heels to enter the mosque but rarely have I seen such an ill-fitting outfit on someone in the public eye. I saw shots of Hillary Clinton yesterday in a hideous pants suit but that paled in comparison to Michelle's fashion disaster. I am so not a fan of the Obama's but I have seen Michelle in some pretty cute outfits so that Jakarta ensemble was off the charts in ugly. First ladies are supposed to look their best, especially when on the international stage but clearly she hasn't gotten that message. Somebody help her, please!!!

I'm sorry, but what's so ill-fitting about this outfit? It is an excellent example of respecting the culture and religion of her muslim hosts. Perhaps you do not like that it is not form-fitting? Judging from the cut, and fabric choice - it looks like it was designed to be a more "flowy" style suit vice a form-fitting one. I have a couple of those for when Aunt Flo comes to visit. Extremely comfortable.

So, she took off her heels, donned a headcover, and wore something that is not form-fitting. This right here is a perfect example of respecting the culture of the people she is visiting. Well... except for the color. That's pretty atrocious.

I'm not crazy about the outfit, but I'm guessing she was trying to wear something loose so as not to offend her hosts.

I agree that the suit seems overly baggy, particularly the slacks. The ensemble looks far too big for her, and I don't like the color. But I'd hardly call it a fashion disaster. That outfit is merely unfortunate.

The cut is fine. It looks big on her because the pants look like they are hanging long. And they were because she had to remove her heels for the ceremony. I think if the pics were shown while she had her shoes on, thus elevating her leg length, the fit would seem much better.

She's wearing the same suit in the photo from July 19th: The Michelle Obama Look Book 2010 -- The Cut

It looks like she's consciously playing up the shapelessness in order to conform to Indonesia's standards of modesty.

Yes, at least she's being respectful of their culture. But I agree with folks about the color. Oy.

What bugged me most about that suit is that it looks lumpy and shows her shirt. I don't know if the jacket was poorly lined or what. A suit should be lined--preferably the slacks too--and lie smoothly.

Thanks! At least we can see how it's supposed to look, and that the pants are wide and draped instead of just too big, but they are still too long. Her hems are dragging on the ground there! I also think she is too hippy to wear very wide-legged pants. She and I are similarly built. It's just too much fabric under the hips and butt, making them look wider. I love wide-legged pants and think they can look great on tall people, but these need to be tailored so they fit better.

The color looks better indoors.
