I love coats. I have several. Usually buy one winter coat and parka per year. Sometimes more---uh definitely more.. In the past five years probably about 35 winter coats and jackets. It really depends on the kind of weather we are having too. If we hit a really cold spell....somehow I feel that I deserve more than a couple of really warm winter coats.

Now that I live in a land of fairly mild winters (Missouri, as opposed to Minnesota), I don't really sweat it on keeping a lot of winter coats. They're bulky and annoying to store.

I have:

One black pea coat, U.S. Navy issue, that I've had for 15 years, is older than I am, and looks brand new (military issue is made to last, your tax dollars at work).

One long wool dress trench in charcoal grey for when I'm wearing hose or tights and need leg-length coverage

One cheap Target cropped pea coat in really lightweight wool felt that's bright red. I tend to wear it in fall and spring, as well, since it's light. I mainly got it to have something bright to wear when the constant wintertime parade of dark coats gets dreary.

One artisan woolen cape imported from Ireland. It's lovely, but isn't good for the occasional bitter cold. But for the more mild winter weather, it's great, it's akin to wearing a cozy blanket, but much more flattering.

I'd like to pick up a camel coat, if funds allow, before Christmas. It's about the only basic I don't have. I'm just glad not to be living someplace so cold that I have to wear poufy down parkas anymore.
