I am frustrated with buying pants. The petite/short are slightly too short (I think?) and the regulars are way too long. Every pair I buy they have to be hemmed. I am 5' 4" should I buy short/petite pants? I hate how every time I buy pants that I love I have to wait before I can wear them. I think there needs to be another size in between or something.

I am also 5'4" and have to buy short pants for flat shoes and regular pants for heels. Petite pants are supposed to have a 28" inseam and regular should be 30". Some companies have started diverting from this rule. I buy short skinny jeans at Hollister that seem to be shorter than normal because they (thankfully) stop right at the ankle so that the pants don't bunch up above sneakers. However, short pants at J. Crew stop at the top of the heel. It all depends on the company. It makes buying pants online very frustrating.

I'm 5'4 and have the same problem! Guess we're an in between height. I do the exact same thing as Kristin - I have jeans for flats and jeans for heels.

Sometimes I have that problem, too. But my big issue with pants that the waists always stick out in back so much that even a belt can't make it look right. I have a bubble-butt, and I swear most pants (especially jeans) are cut to fit women with no ass or waist.

Some brands, such as Levi's differentiate between petite "short"(5'0" and below) and petite "regular" (5'4" and below). Also some stores, like Kohl's carry misses sizes in "regular" and "short" (The "short" are for women that border average or petite, and can't fit either comfortably.

This article explains the difference between short misses and petites:

It sounds like you'd benefit more from a misses "short" rather than petite.

Yeah you can always hem them up, nothing you can do if there isn't enough fabric to let them down to be long enough.

I'm 5'10" and shortwaisted, my legs are pretty long. Finding pants long enough is always a hassle.
