I do that when I want a more natural look and not wanting to put much makeup on. It's a great idea for someone who doesn't want to wear much makeup during the day.

Most of my makeup is stuff that can be dabbed on with a fingertip, with the exception of obvious stuff like loose powder and mascara. I find that it gives me the most control over application level.

As far as color that stays and can be found in more matte, non-glitzy formulations, I like L'Oreal's HIP high intensity pigment line of eyeshadows, and they come in twin packs. I like the duo called "Devious," which is a slightly golden olive shade paired with a cocoa brown shade. HIP also has sparkly and metallic finishes, so you have to look for the matte finish ones.

I use a brand called Bella Pierre that will be more matte with a primer. Here they are:

Bellapierre Cosmetics United States

I found them in one of those carts in the mall. Was at first skeptical, but they work just as well as my MAC for a couple dollars less and last.

I like MUFE (Make Up For Ever) and they offer matte shadows.

ImportersWife, where do you find your MUFE? Local or do you have to order online? Possibly Ulta?

I almost always use my fingertip on my eyeshadow. I use a brush or applicator for the browbone and lid, but I find that to really push darker accents into my outer crease, nothing works better than my ring finger.

I love the new Covergirl SmokyShadowBlast crayon its perfect for a quick glide of color for daywear-no primer needed! I can even line with it ! i use the deep cinnamon and lt. gold crayon. Of course I smashed the perfect tip but it still works, just blend edges with your finger.

I believe they're sold out of Sephora exclusively. But you can always order online at Sephora. I'm not sure if there are any other online retailers that carry the line.

I agree. MAC shadows are terrific, and they are so pigment rich a little goes a long way. If there's a color/finish you want, MAC makes it.

Shadows alone don't stay on my lids. I use Too Faced primer and shadows stay on 18 hours. I buy it at Ulta, which often offers discount coupons. Also, using this primer allows me to buy cheap shadows, which is how I justify buying the primer.
