Here in Trinidad (the Caribbean island) most teen boys are really into skinny jeans, brightly coloured Converse, neck scarves (yes in 30+ celsius all yr round!) and fitted tees. Those who don't wear the neck scarf often wear a fitted patterned hoodie. The girls dress less kookily...mainly tights and ballet flats.

I really can't help staring at the boys when I see them out and about in their numbers... Do teen girls nowadays honestly find that remotely attractive I can't help but wonder. I'm not even 30. Talk about a generation gap!

Sounds like the teen guys in your area are taking cues from "hipster" fashion, along with the "skater" thing. It sounds similar to what I see around here, too, and yes, they are found to be attractive.

1. Roll out of bed.
2. Put on shoes.
3. Go to school.

And you sleep in....?

Since you're in Chicago, where it's currently colder than Billyblue, I'm kind of hoping you don't sleep as nature intended.

LOL ... I have an electric blanket and a toasty husband, so I'm all good. My high schooler and her friends are the ones who look like they sleep in sweatshirts and ratty flannel pants.

Depends on which group they hang with....in my neck of the woods, the look you describe would be more of the alternative or theater groups....Most of what I see from my 17 yo son and his friends would be (depending on the weather) either basketball style shorts (to the knee) and a graphic tee with a hoodie in case the weather changes and athletic shoes with low-cut socks; or jeans (slung a bit too low so that mom can continually nag to pull up your pants and he can say "I can't help it! I'm already wearting a belt - what else can I do??" while pulling up his t-shirt to prove that he is indeed wearing a belt) and 2 t-shirts (who knew you needed an undershirt with a T-shirt?) and a hoodie, athletic shoes etc.....
