Well, it is more of a philosophical way of looking at the changing trends in America. In my case it's not a judgement call except it does seem like an emphasization of only one aspect of a person-how hot or doable you are. If I were young and hot, I might dress the same way.

Well, that would explain it.......they're young, and have no taste.
Enough fashion faux pas, they'll figure it out.
When I think of some of the things I wore back in the 70s, (not trashy, just ghastly) I cringe, and hope I burned all those negatives.

I dunno trimac, I don't follow fashion trends... I dress to my personality and what suits me.. but I'm not that young anymore either... you gotta get over to the east coast

Melbourne is the only one that stands out for me. The other cities seem full of folk who prefer Supre, City Beach, Jay Jay's, K-Mart, Sportsgirl type places (not saying that's bad, but the definition of 'fashion' seems almost everybody wearing the same things).
Trimac, I understand perfectly what you are trying to say, these other people are apparently not getting it. I think in general the more we are advancing technologically in this country and world, the more we still regress to our most base level of mate attraction. It's all about sex.
No, we get it. We just know better, and realize that it's EXACTLY the same thing that's been said about young people's fashions by older people for centuries.
Like how boys/men will constantly wear baggy, oafish, boring sort of clothes (like those shorts that go below the knees), or low-slung jeans, and females constantly sporting clothes that would only have been worn by hookers 20 years ago? I don't know, maybe I take too much notice but the contrast annoys me as much as the fashions themselves. Male fashion is still pretty 'anti-fashion' in my opinion while female fashion isn't much more creative. One is just sloppy and the other is slutty. Why can't people begin to wear stuff that is creative and fashionable, and doesn't have to exaggerate their perceived sexual characteristics? As if we can't tell what gender you are?
It takes a lot of guts to not be a follower and not copy cat celebrities and other people in the media.

Yes, exactly. It amazes me what is acceptable for women to wear to work. You don't see men in offices wearing tight pants (not normally) and showing off their pecs but women can wear all kinds of unprofessional attire, even in a formal work environment. You see it in the media, compare what TV newswomen wore in the 80s and 90s and now. It is more cocktail party attire than professional style clothing. The hair is often unprofessional as well. It looks low rent. Newsmen still just wear suits and short hair.
