Good tattoos are very time consuming. I have around 30 hours on my arm so far and all I have is a small patch about 5x5" which is colored, and my forearm which is only outlined and shaded, no color yet.

After I'm done with my left sleeve, it's on to my 'nautical' themed right sleeve, the top half of my arm (elbow up) will be an ocean top scene with a pirate-esque ship, birds, dolphins etc., from the elbow down will be 'under the sea' with a coral reef. There isn't going to be outlining at all on my right sleeve, so it's going to be verrrry time consuming and detailed.

If I may ask, what are you planning?

Considering I have 4 tats of my own (all hidden) I am obviously okay w/tats.

When my son is 18 he can do whatever he likes w/his body... it's his body..

It's related to my time in the service: dog tags and chain "stitched" into the skin with my service info on it. I got the idea from a show on the History or Discovery channels.

This way, if anything were to happen to me, I could be identified even if I had no ID on me. There's a method to my madness.

I have two friends who have done something similar, one is in the Army special forces, the other in the Navy.

Ah, see? That's one place we differ. If something were to happen to me, I wouldn't WANT to be identified!

Since a tattoo is a personal choice and they are at least 18 I wouldn't care. Heck I got my tat when I was 18. I had been thinking about it for 2 years before. My husband got his tat when he was 21.

I've wanted tats since I was around 5 so a LOT of thought went into getting what I have. I have a few more designs I want to get.
