I know Im sick of the man that uses some type of cologne or whatever it is at the gym. It is so strong it causes me to have asthma problems. It isn't the biggest gym around so the odor just lingers, and when Im on the threadmill it overpowers me and I can't breathe. We seem to show up the same time all the time, even if I change the time by an hour or so. I have actually thought of telling him as polite as I can, that his cologne is a serious risk to my asthma. I can't seem to get myself to do it though.

I cannot for the sake of me understand why this man or any guy, would need to wear this much cologne.

It helps to know you can't use it to cover up body odor. If you smell bad, you'll just end up smelling like cologne with a background of B.O.. not good.

I see no difference between men wearing cologne and women wearing perfume. If it is a nice scent and used sparingly, then it enhances not detracts. I love my husband's cologne it smells wonderful!

but seriously, this is almost akin to the "who else hates dating" thread that got kinda heated a few weeks back- its, in other words, a completely personal preference, but personally i find it very creepy when men wear cologne. i even hate the word. it has too many vowels.

and there is nothing worse than certain types of musk- obsession for men was a main offender. every time i smell it i see frat boys in daddy's car. it smells of no scruples to me. (no offense to you former frat boys). but i expect to get date-raped or at least roofied when i smell that stuff. not to make light of either of those happenings either, btw....

but its an almost visceral aversion. i literally would not date a man who stunk of cologne and used loads of hair gel. it reeks of the sort of premeditation that i dislike in women, who, luckily, i don't date. give me curly dark ringlets that are natural. i don't want to see your scalp shine.

i will say the only cologne that i actually love- and used to wear even as a girl- is cool water. to me it smells like old books. people look at me funny when i say that, but it has that woodsy odor i associate with pre-1930's hardbacks. i never said i wasn't weird.
It called "Obsession" for a reason...the guys that wear it are obsessed with getting laid! Just kidding!

Personally, I like the smell of cologne. As long as its not too strong on the guy, its all good! I'd rather have a guy wear cologne then have the guy not wear cologne and have a weird body smell.

I'm not really a fan of chemical based perfumes, cologne, scents or deoderant.

Wouldn't say "creepy" depends on the situation, the scent, etc. How much is used... of course over-used, no one likes. I never thought much of it, really.

A little of the right kind on men or women is sexy to me. It demonstrates that they care about making a good impression. I understand the "creepy" comment because of the rampant mis-use and poor choice of fragrance in the world, though. I find it kind of puppy dog endearing and cute when younger men over-use cologne...but on older guys it is a little tiny bit creepy, like they are trying way too hard. They should just try to be their nicest, most pleasant well groomed/well dressed selves and they will see that will take them farther than dousing themselves with cologne that doesn't go with their body chemistry.

I absolutely do not get how cologne is "creepy", not at all.

How could it possibly be "creepy"?
