So I recently bought a casual suit-type jacket from Urban Outfitters in a large. It doesn't quite fit, but I often buy clothes that I like that are a little off as a weight loss goal and then lose enough weight to fit into them. This type of goal doesn't work for everyone, but I've found when there's an article of clothing that I REALLY want to fit into, it's great motivation.

So my question is that when I put on the jacket, the arms don't fit very well and it's very tight in the shoulder area, so I'm wondering if I even do lose weight, the jacket still won't fit correctly and I might just want to return it. A few years ago I did fit into small and medium sized clothing so I think I should be able to fit into this jacket eventually, but I don't want it to be a lost cause that just sits in my closet.

Thanks in advance =)

I'd return it....shoulders don't seem to "lose" inches unless you have a massive amount of weight to lose! Seems silly to pay for something you can't wear "just in case"....
If you need a jacket now, get one that fits now...it's easier to "take it in" than to make it larger!

Lose the weight first. Then buy the jacket and get it tailored.

If the shoulders don't fit, take it back. A tailor can't fix shoulders, as it is the base of the jacket. Well, a good one can, but it would probably cost you about 4 times the cost of the jacket.

When I lost 20 lbs, I only lost inches on my back, my shoulders didn't see much difference. I'd say you need to return it, unless you have more than 20 lbs to lose.
