I know , socks and sandals seem to be a British proclivity, I always dread summer here !

Some older friends of ours ( and Christians if that makes any difference I am not sure) even wear them in winter !!! I find it so, so odd but they're lovely people so this perversion of theirs I am just ready to overlook ! Just.

When the handkerchief on the neck comes out with long shorts worn with sandals and Bermuda shorts I might just have to put my foot down though....

I agree -- and those green suede peep things, ugly at any angle. I have a couple of pair of peep boots, with a small platform toe and a high heel. I quite like them with coloured hose to pick up some colour from what I am wearing..but they are totally useless in winter. Cute for inside and warm days only.

They're designed to accentuate your legs and are to be worn with shorts or short skirts. They're cute. If you don't have the legs to pull them off you'd probably end up looking like the back end of a two piece horse costume. Not so cute.
