I'm lucky in that I rarely have to wear them, but I think they're totally unecessary, maybe they make the business uniform a bit more 'complete' because we are used to them being part of it, but honestly, a dangly piece of cloth that serves no function?

No--I'm not sure how we would do that anyway. Outlaw ties?

I do think it's odd when I watch a game show or the news and the men are in suits and ties, or a shirt and tie at the very least, and the women are wearing something significantly more casual.

No...I think suits need that splash of color to break up the solid/subtle fabric of the the suit and/or the shirt. I also like the look of jeans/khakis with a tie - a more casual but still "dressy" look - especially on younger boys/men who may not have reason to own a suit but still need/want to appear more dressed up.

I love ties. They can add a bit of color to someone's face and they also can make a guy look a bit taller and thinner by the vertical line.

YES ! One of the dumb fashion inequalities guys are burdened with. A nice dress shirt and vest is just as stylish.

You're not serious. Wear pantyhose and high heels all day and talk to me then.

If a guy is dressed in a suit, his tie is pretty much the only place where he gets to be creative with color/pattern and show a little personality.

I kinda agree with him, it can be pretty annoying. In one of my Catholic schools all the girls had to wear ties as part of the uniform too and it really sucked. I hated it, it felt like something was choking me sometimes and it was just annoying to feel something constantly at your neck like that, it was a huge relief to take it off.

Yeah, I always felt bad for guys about that lol. Anywhere you see people dressed up you see all the girls have so many different types of dresses and outfits and stuff, and pretty much all the guys are dressed exactly the same. At least you can mix it up with a tie.
