Antlered, you're like an apostle spreading the good news. I didn't know skinny ties were back until this thread, but I'm excited about this trend. I LOVE skinny ties. I was sad when they went out of style 20 years ago... I bought and wore "regular" ties in the late 90s, but I always felt like I was wearing my dad's tie. Can't wait to wear a cool tie again.

You're most welcome, WC
I really love these ties and I believe they add extra character to my personality. I never felt so enthused about wearing regular sized ties.
Anyway, there's this awesome skinny tie seller in China who has a good rep on eBay. And I have ordered this tie that will go with my shirt that's on my profile pic, that's what I'm hoping to pair it with. This will be a monochromatic pair.
And this guy has quite a collection. It's impressive, and I swear I have a shirt for every tie on there
I'm trying to envision this with my black shirt , white pants with closely placed black pinstripes (which almost looks white at a distance, the pinstripes are so gentle) and brown shoes.
Alright now, yesterday I decided to wear my new skinny tie to the office. I wasn't even creative, I just thought I'd wear the grey coloured one with my fitted shirt which was kind of turquoise in colour. But express calls it seaside blue, but it's somewhere between seaside blue, seaport and turquoise.
Dark pants of course. I got glowing reviews in the office. People said it was cute, even my fricking boss, who happens to be a guy But he told me he would like to wear it if he were younger, but he is not any older, he's only in his mid 40s and I'm not young myself (31).
So what's the consensus among the fashion champs here about corp rats in formals with a skinny tie I'm suddenly investing in skinny ties.
By skinny, I assume you mean a flat tie, but narrow? Those were the only neckties until sometime in the 1960's. By the 70's, anyone with a narrow tie was made fun of. Things go around and come around for sure.
I like skinny ties sometimes. I own 2 of them, but I don't know. I agree with what someone said about trying too hard. I still like my wider ties regardless of what's trendy. Just depends on the occasion and what I'm going for.
I think skinny ties became popular again because of the TV show "Mad Men" which as we all know, is all about a New York ad company in the 60s, it's an office setting with all the males, ages ranging from 20s to 50s, wearing skinny ties
I love narrow/skinny ties. I just wore one to a wedding this summer. Sadly not much call to wear ties to the office, usually.
