Scissors. Round-tipped safety scissors. We're already at that point and that was the solution we settled on. I did tell her there's nothing wrong with having some hair, but she says it's hot and itchy and gross. I figure if she wants to spend her free time chopping the hairs one by one, that's her choice, as long as she doesn't tell me about it or show me the end result. I didn't give her razors because I was afraid she'd hurt herself.
Meh it's just cultural norms. I mean what kind of parent would let their kid grow up without braces? How is that different? Better botox than corsets.
Sue me. I never bought into feminist ideal that you can only care about aesthetics if you're an insecure, vain, and generally pathetic person. I do think it's incredibly stupid to give an 8 year old Botox, however.
This story may not even be true.... If you read later in the article, the Huffington writer states "while we certainly hope that this article is the work of an imaginative reporter..."
I don't think you can buy Botox online. I also think if any mother were crazy enough to do something like this, she wouldn't advertise it and risk CPS getting involved.
I don't see anything wrong with it. What is wrong with being and feeling beautiful? It is obvious that the more attractive person gets way more opportunity and advantage in life than someone who is unattractive. Sorry but that is the way society is.

8 year old girls are beautiful, just as they are. They don't need opportunity and advantage in life, yet. They just need to be 8. Society would stop being the way "society is" if we all stopped being so ridiculous about having a wrinkle or two.
Society needs to tell 8 year old girls that they are fabulous, and smart, and talented, and capable, not that they need Botox. Geez.
