What is the best foundation to use during the hot summer months? No melting, rubbing-off or sticking to clothes? I heard that Colorstay was good for summer but it seems super thick, like a mask.

My mother just uses a facial tanning cream with a little powder. It works great. I prefer mineral and to not wear makeup heavy enough that it will rub off.

Yes, Colorstay does having staying power but as you've mentioned it is very thick.
I like Tarte's recreate foundation. I use it when I need lasting but full coverage. If you're looking for lasting but light/medium coverage I'd recommend L'Oreal true match foundation.

Probably depends on your skin and your location (humid vs dry climate)....I think that Bobbi Brown's Skin Foundation is very light....

I sweat too much in the summer to try very hard with my makeup. Waterproof stuff still sweats off, sweatproof stuff gives me zits. When I'm planning on being inside most of the day in air conditioning, my usual bare minerals is exactly as perfect as it is in the winter when I'm inside most of the day when the heat is turned on.

If I'm planning on spending most of my day outside, or inside without A/C, I just sweep a touch of bronzing powder across my cheeks. No foundation at all.

I'm a big fan of Revlon's Colorstay. Unfortunately they seemed to have discontinued their "Active" line which isn't as heavy as the regular Colorstay line.

I know Estee Lauder has a line similar to Colorstay, but I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know if it has the same full/heavy coverage.

Agreed. I've worn only their active colorstay for years, regardless of what I am doing. I have now resorted to buying it online since they discontinued it. There are websites dedicated to discontinued makeup similar to discontinued china lol

I tried shiseido active foundation....and it might work for some but its just too light for me.

Bare Minerals here. I cannot do liquid foundations. I always feel like I'm wearing a mask.

I can't rave enough about Pur Minerals, sold at Ulta. Only issue is you use it up quickly for the cost. Loose minerals last longer, but the shea butter binder makes my early 40's skin better than loose powder w/ zero moisture. I have been using revlon New Complexion one step cream all winter and love the Tender Peach color but its too sweaty for Summer, time to save up for Pur Light Golden, what a gorgeous color for a lt summer tan. By the way I tan my body lightly not face so I need a bit of warmth in my make up,these colors are perfect for light skin that needs a bit of Summer warmth without going orange or brown.

I generally use Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer/sunscreen. They have it in oil free which might be better for some in the summer. Then I use a light dusting of bronzing powder over it. Philosophy just came out with a new tinted moisturizer/sunscreen that I will try out after my LM tube is empty.
